About the Artist
Jayde Hopkins is a proud Gurindji and Woolwonga woman from the Northern Territory.
She was born and raised in an Aboriginal community in the Larrakia lands of the Darwin area.
Her artistic persona, Nawula Almaren, is based on two First Nations words;
Nawula, her Gurindji skin name, and Almaren, a Woolwonga word for "girl".
As an artist she specialises in vibrant colours, utilising dot painting and other contemporary techniques to paint the natural world. She is a lover of all things art and science and is completing her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences.
Jayde hopes to become an infectious disease researcher, making Australia safer for all but especially for First Nations peoples.

Some older paintings may reflect this.
